Identify UV origins of low-energy effective CQ gravity with a classical scalar

Identify or construct high-energy theories that flow to the proposed low-energy effective CQ model of quantum gravity coupled to a classical scalar field, and characterize the mechanisms by which CQ interactions emerge in the infrared limit.

Background

The paper motivates treating the CQ gravity–scalar model as effective, but the UV origin of such CQ dynamics is unknown. Establishing candidate UV theories and matching to the CQ EFT would clarify the genesis of CQ interactions and the status of the classical scalar (fundamental vs. emergent).

Understanding UV completions would also inform naturalness, renormalization behavior, and potential phenomenology beyond the low-energy regime.

Are there clues as to what sort of high energy theories yield such a theory in the low energy limit? We leave these as open questions for future work.
