Universal spectral threshold dominance in the unresolved general case

Establish universal spectral threshold dominance for arbitrary graphs, or provide a counterexample, thereby determining whether threshold graphs maximize Laplacian energy among all graphs of prescribed order and size.

Background

The conjectured dominance property has been verified for several important graph classes, including split graphs and graphs obtained through specified disjoint-union and complement operations. However, these results do not cover arbitrary graphs.

Resolving the general case would settle the associated Laplacian-energy extremal problem and would be equivalent to the stated Brouwer-type conjecture for Laplacian eigenvalue sums.

References

It is verified for split graphs and for disjoint unions/complements of spectrally threshold dominated graphs, but remains open in general.
