Adequacy of the disk model fit to the F444W data

Ascertain the goodness-of-fit of the GRaTer two-dimensional debris disk model, convolved with JWST/NIRCam coronagraphic point-spread functions, to the low signal-to-noise F444W (3.89–4.91 μm) observations of the TWA 20 system.

Background

The authors employed forward modeling with a GRaTer disk model and PSF convolution to characterize the TWA 20 debris disk. While the F200W data provide a high-SNR detection enabling parameter estimation, the F444W data are faint and yield weak constraints.

Given the low SNR, the authors explicitly note uncertainty about how well the model reproduces the F444W observations, leaving the adequacy of the fit unresolved.

References

Given how faint the disk is in the F444W image, it is unclear how good of a fit the model is to the data.
