Systematic exploration of Markovian impurity models

Systematically explore the Markovian impurity model, including the effects and parameter dependence of its non-Markovian behavior beyond the results established for the critical impurity parameter and interaction strengths.

Background

The paper introduces Markovian impurity models in which ancilla–ancilla interactions are periodically interrupted by impurity collisions that block information backflow. It proves that if a p-impurity model is non-Markovian according to the BLP measure, then the corresponding (p+1)-impurity model is also non-Markovian, and it numerically investigates how the critical impurity parameter depends on the system–ancilla and ancilla–ancilla interaction strengths.

The authors note that these results identify several features of the model but do not constitute a systematic exploration of the full class. Such an exploration is explicitly left unresolved, making it the sole open research direction stated in the paper.

References

Although several interesting features of Markovian impurity models have been identified, a systematic exploration of the model lies beyond this paper's scope and remains an open direction for future work.
