Coexistence or competition of superconductivity and magnetism in strained Sr2RuO4

Investigate whether superconductivity and magnetism coexist or compete in Sr2RuO4 under uniaxial strain, using experiments extending to lower temperatures.

Background

The paper identifies a kink in the superconducting dome near a compressive strain of approximately −0.6%, where the magnetic phase coincides with the superconducting transition. The available elastocaloric data do not resolve whether the two ordered states coexist microscopically or compete with one another. The authors therefore identify lower-temperature experiments as necessary to clarify the relationship between superconductivity and magnetism in this region of the phase diagram.

References

The question of wether superconductivity and magnetism coexist or compete has to be further investigated in future experiments extending to lower temperature.
