Generalization of RefineEdit to unseen prompts and editing distributions

Determine whether the category-specific switch-step and masking-threshold settings used by RefineEdit generalize to unseen prompts and editing distributions.

Background

RefineEdit uses category-specific settings for the switch step, spatial threshold, and bitwise threshold, selected on the PIE-Bench-derived evaluation benchmark. The paper states that the method’s generalization beyond the evaluated categories and distributions has not yet been established, making robustness to unseen editing requests an unresolved empirical question.

References

Our category-specific settings are selected on the evaluation benchmark, and their generalization to unseen prompts and editing distributions remains to be tested.
