Determine whether the version-conflict effect is caused by outdated records

Determine whether retaining outdated attempt-1 records lowers success in Remember Color when persistence is varied while the memory architecture and other components are held fixed.

Background

The version-conflict experiments compare configurations involving persistence and conflict, but the evidence does not isolate the causal effect of stale records. A same-architecture persistence-only study failed to reproduce the earlier configuration contrast, and the authors therefore leave the validity of the stale-record interpretation unresolved.

References

Validity remains unresolved, so no claim is made that outdated records themselves lower success.
