Sensitivity of persistence results to the lifetime cutoff

Determine how the persistent-homology findings change when the relative lifetime cutoff, fixed at 0.01 times the maximum finite H1 lifetime, is varied.

Background

The study filters finite H1 persistence bars using a relative lifetime threshold of 0.01Lmax. Although this cutoff is held fixed across most analyses, the authors identify its sensitivity as unresolved. A systematic threshold sweep would establish whether the reported clean–noisy contrasts, crossover behavior, and noise associations are robust to this methodological choice.

References

Several questions remain open. Sensitivity to the fixed cutoff of 0.01Lmax requires a threshold sweep, and finer checkpoint sampling would improve the timing resolution of the 14-checkpoint study.
