Multigluon production from interacting pomeron vertices

Investigate multigluon production contributions arising from interactions between pomerons beyond the currently studied cases of single- and double-gluon production, in order to determine whether inclusive cross-sections and particle-production probabilities can be consistently constructed in interacting-pomeron models.

Background

The paper studies the construction of particle-number probabilities and entropy from inclusive scattering cross-sections in unitary models with multiple pomeron exchanges but no interactions between pomerons. It notes that, in QCD, particle production cannot generally be represented solely as a convolution of the distribution of cut pomerons with the particle distribution from an individual pomeron, because additional emissions can arise from interaction vertices.

At the time of the paper, the authors identify an absence of studies of this vertex-emission contribution beyond single- and double-gluon production. Extending the analysis to multigluon production associated with interacting pomerons is therefore an unresolved problem relevant to establishing a consistent probabilistic and entropic description of more realistic QCD pomeron models.
