Magnetic-field control of ultracold collision dynamics

Investigate how tuning the spin-rotation fine structure of CaNH₂ molecules with applied magnetic fields affects their ultracold collision dynamics.

Background

The paper studies ultracold collisions of asymmetric-top CaNH₂ molecules in static electric fields, showing that the molecular K-doublet structure can produce strongly favorable elastic-to-loss rate ratios and field-linked molecular states. The molecular levels also possess spin-rotation fine structure, which is not externally tuned in the reported calculations.

Applied magnetic fields could modify this spin-rotation structure and thereby alter collision channels, scattering resonances, elastic rates, or loss processes. The authors explicitly identify the impact of this tuning on ultracold collision dynamics as unresolved.
