Systematically evaluate whether a common underlying neurochemical or other brain mechanism accounts for apophanic meaning-making states observed across temporal-lobe epilepsy and contemporary human–AI interactions.

Background

The paper compares AI-associated, meaning-saturated experiences with the interictal behaviour syndrome associated with temporal-lobe epilepsy, including heightened salience, religious or philosophical preoccupations and a noetic sense of impending revelation. The authors suggest that an apophanic mode of meaning-making may function as a cross-context psychological attractor, but they note that the biological basis of any such commonality has not been investigated systematically.
