Establish the ubiquity and temporal stability of AU-scale magnetic-field reversals associated with interstellar current sheets through observations of additional pulsars and observing epochs.

Background

The paper presents a marginal 2.9σ branch-to-branch rotation-measure difference toward PSR B0834+06 as a proof-of-concept indication of an AU-scale magnetic-field reversal. Because the result relies on a single pulsar and a single observing epoch, it does not determine whether such magnetic reversals are common in the interstellar medium or whether the inferred structure persists over time.

The authors identify multi-epoch and multi-sightline observations as necessary to test the prevalence and persistence of the phenomenon and to determine whether the detected signal represents a reproducible astrophysical effect rather than an isolated event or statistical fluctuation.

The ubiquity and temporal stability of this phenomenon, therefore, remain to be established through future observations.
