Establish the causal and temporal ordering of advice evaluations

Test whether the proposed ordering from advice appraisals to Overall Quality, Trust, and Intended Reliance constitutes a causal and temporal pathway by manipulating specific appraisals and observing subsequent changes in Trust and Reliance.

Background

The experiment measured appraisals, Overall Quality, Trust, and Intended Reliance within the same advice-evaluation task. Consequently, the reported relationships are associational and do not establish that earlier appraisals cause later judgments or that the proposed sequence unfolds over time.

The unresolved problem is to test the pathway more directly using longitudinal or experimental designs that manipulate individual appraisal dimensions and measure their downstream effects on Trust and Reliance.
