Determine whether low interest in nuclear safety made participants treat the task primarily as something to complete rather than as an opportunity to learn.

Background

The study used nuclear safety protocols as a zero-prior-knowledge domain, but it did not measure participants’ interest in the topic. Consequently, the authors cannot exclude the possibility that limited interest influenced participants’ motivation and learning behavior, potentially causing them to prioritize task completion over genuine knowledge acquisition. Establishing whether topic interest affected the observed outcomes would help clarify the generalizability and interpretation of the comparison among unrestricted, Socratic, and EEG-adaptive AI tutoring modes.
