Efficient and suitable DER disaggregation strategies

Develop suitable disaggregation strategies that allocate a scheduled aggregate power value among heterogeneous distributed energy resources while strictly satisfying each resource’s operational constraints and accounting for the operational cost objective in the disaggregation problem.

Background

The proposed inner approximation guarantees that any scheduled aggregate power profile within the approximate aggregate flexibility set can be feasibly disaggregated among the heterogeneous distributed energy resources. However, the paper does not develop the operational procedure for performing this disaggregation. The unresolved task is to design suitable strategies for allocating aggregate power across individual DERs while respecting their power, energy, ramping, and other operational constraints, potentially while optimizing the abstract DER operational-cost function.

However, our primary focus is on deriving the aggregate flexibility set for DERs; suitable disaggregation strategies are left for future research.
