Dedicated suppression of unresolved multipath

Develop dedicated multipath-suppression mechanisms for the sensing-assisted OFDM with index modulation localisation framework to mitigate bias in the extracted line-of-sight gain caused by unresolved or closely spaced non-line-of-sight reflections.

Background

The proposed line-of-sight gain estimator phase-compensates and averages channel-frequency-response samples. In dispersive channels, unresolved or closely spaced reflected paths can remain partially coherent after compensation and bias the estimated line-of-sight gain.

Because the received-signal-strength localisation stage uses the estimated line-of-sight gains to infer position and, when necessary, receiver orientation, this multipath bias can produce erroneous distance, position, or incidence-angle estimates. The paper identifies dedicated suppression mechanisms as an unresolved direction rather than providing one.

The development of dedicated multipath-suppression mechanisms is therefore left as a direction for future work, alongside the extension of the anchor-blockage conditions.
