Determine whether resistance is more useful for graph design than diagnosis

Determine whether effective resistance provides greater practical benefit as a graph-design quantity for rewiring tissue-specific interactomes before GraphSAGE training than as a standalone diagnostic score for prediction reliability.

Background

The study evaluates effective resistance as a fixed, node-level diagnostic descriptor of prediction risk on unmodified tissue-specific interactomes. It does not evaluate resistance-based rewiring, although prior work has used resistance to select edges intended to reduce over-squashing.

The unresolved comparison is between the modest reliability gain measured in this paper and the potential predictive improvement obtained by rewiring the interactome before training. The authors specify that this comparison should use the same degree-matched null and within-subset permutation-floor controls to distinguish genuine structural effects from statistical artifacts.

References

The second is whether resistance is more useful as a design quantity than a diagnostic one, tested by comparing the ceiling measured here against the gain from rewiring the interactome before training.
