Establish whether HR 8799 f is in orbital resonance

Determine whether candidate planet HR 8799 f is truly in orbital resonance with the known HR 8799 planets.

Background

The candidate's measured position is close to the predicted position of planet f in the dynamically stable five-planet Va resonant model, which places the candidate near a possible continuation of the system's mean-motion resonance structure.

The authors explicitly caution that this positional agreement is not evidence of resonance because other resonant models also place planet f at similar projected separations and because the agreement could be coincidental. Additional orbital monitoring and dynamical analysis are therefore needed.

Future dynamical studies could also test whether candidate~f is truly in resonance at its measured position.
