Assess the impact of the halo parametrization on the recovered FDM mass

Determine whether using the coreNFWtides parametrization instead of the broken-power-law density model shifts the recovered fuzzy-dark-matter boson mass at a level relevant to the reported constraints.

Background

The analysis uses non-parametric density and enclosed-mass posteriors generated by pyGravSphere, whose dark-matter density is represented by a broken power law. The paper compares its Leo II result with an independent study that uses the coreNFWtides parametrization instead.

Because the force-balance estimator depends on logarithmic derivatives of the reconstructed density, changing the density parametrization could alter the inferred quantum-potential term and therefore the recovered boson mass. The authors identify the effect of this modeling choice as unresolved.

References

We note finally that Zimmermann et al., whose Leo~II bound we compare against in Sec.~\ref{sec:discussion}, adopt the coreNFWtides parametrization rather than the broken power law of Eq.~\ref{eq:app_bpl}; assessing whether this choice shifts the recovered $m_{21}$ at the level relevant to our constraints is left to future work.
