Consistency attacks on the local-basis finder

Determine whether consistency constraints across overlapping circuit layers eliminate the multiple ambiguous local-basis readings produced by the Cable–Browne local-basis finder and thereby recover a unique hidden sector structure.

Background

The local-basis finder halts on the tested layers because it encounters incompatible candidate readings, and the rank-one candidates do not reveal the sector partition through their local-unitary invariants.

The paper leaves unresolved whether combining information from overlapping layers can nevertheless prune the ambiguous layer-by-layer readings to a unique interpretation, which would threaten the intended hiding mechanism.

References

The halting is a property of each layer; whether consistency between overlapping layers prunes the incompatible readings back to one is the open part of Conjecture~\ref{conj:main}.
