Clinically important weighting of evaluation facts

Develop methods that weight facts by clinical importance in the fact-based evaluation framework for clinical information retrieval, so that evaluation metrics better reflect real-world clinical utility.

Background

The paper’s fact-based evaluation framework measures information coverage through fact recall and precision, but it currently treats facts without weighting their relative clinical significance. The authors explicitly leave development of clinically importance-weighted evaluation methods for future work because omission of a highly consequential fact may matter more clinically than omission of a minor detail.
