Extension to the complete unified HTC multiphase model

Investigate the applicability of the configurational numerical viscosity and its thermodynamically compatible finite-volume construction to the complete unified HTC multiphase model, including the elastic and heat-conducting effects excluded from the fluid subsystem studied here.

Background

The paper develops and analyzes the configurational viscosity only for the fluid subsystem of the unified HTC model of compressible multiphase flows. Elastic and heat-conducting effects, which are present in the complete model through additional fields and mechanisms, are explicitly omitted from the analysis and numerical method. The authors therefore leave unresolved whether the construction extends to that complete formulation while retaining the demonstrated conservation, entropy, positivity, and contact-preservation properties.

The applicability of this construction to the complete unified HTC model of mixtures [34] remains to be investigated.
