Alternative QuantumEvo framework designs

Determine whether alternative designs of the QuantumEvo framework can discover substantially different and more effective BDD variable-ordering strategies for reversible circuit synthesis.

Background

QuantumEvo uses an LLM-driven evolutionary search initialized with three heuristic families: sifting, genetic algorithms, and simulated annealing. The discovered HGA-QE heuristic transitions between and combines ideas from these families, so its search remains influenced by the selected initial heuristic space.

The authors explicitly identify as unresolved whether changing the framework design could lead to substantially different ordering strategies with greater effectiveness. This question concerns the capacity of the overall heuristic-discovery framework, rather than merely further tuning HGA-QE.

Whether alternative framework designs can discover substantially different and more effective ordering strategies remains an open question.
