Determine adaptive timing of probe feedback

Determine whether adaptive timing of the transition to Stage II and adaptive strength of probe feedback improve ConflictGuide relative to the prespecified transition and auxiliary retention criteria.

Background

ConflictGuide currently uses a prespecified two-stage schedule: scalar task feedback is provided during Stage I, followed by conflict-specific probe feedback during Stage II. The timing and strength of this feedback are not adapted to the search trajectory. The paper explicitly identifies adaptive timing as unresolved, leaving open whether dynamically deciding when and how strongly to introduce probe feedback can improve search efficiency or final performance.

References

The transition to Stage II and the auxiliary retention rule follow prespecified criteria; adaptive timing remains to be studied.
