Accurate redshift and halo-occupation modeling for deeper galaxy surveys

Develop accurate modeling of the redshift range and halo-occupation-distribution parameters for the Rubin-like and futuristic galaxy-survey configurations used in galaxy-tracer-assisted internal linear combination cleaning forecasts.

Background

The forecast represents the Rubin-like and futuristic galaxy samples by reusing the unWISE redshift distributions and changing only their assumed shot-noise levels. This simplification ignores the fact that galaxy samples with different number densities and survey depths should generally have different redshift distributions and halo-occupation-distribution parameters. Accurate treatment of these quantities is therefore left unresolved for subsequent analysis, since they determine how faithfully the external galaxy maps trace the CIB and thermal Sunyaev–Zel’dovich foregrounds being cleaned from the CMB temperature maps.
