Robustness of distinct cluster feature-importance trends

Determine whether the higher formation-redshift importance and lower gas-mass importance observed for cluster central galaxies, relative to group and field central galaxies, persist in statistically larger samples of cluster-sized halos.

Background

Only 17 cluster-sized halos are available in the TNG100 sample, preventing statistically reliable conclusions about cluster-specific trends. The analysis suggests that cluster centrals differ from group and field centrals in the importance of formation redshift and gas mass for predicting host-halo mass. The authors explicitly leave unresolved whether these differences persist as the number of cluster-sized halos increases and whether they distinguish clusters from groups in the same simulation.
