Tunable spin dynamics in chiral soliton lattice (1705.04086v2)

Published 11 May 2017 in cond-mat.mes-hall and cond-mat.mtrl-sci

Abstract: We study dynamics of a chiral soliton lattice (CSL) in a classical one-dimensional spin chain coupled to the conduction electrons under an electric field. The CSL has attracted much interest because its period can be easily controlled by an external magnetic field. We clarify the dependence of the CSL dynamics on its period. A collective coordinate and an SU(2) gauge method are used for the analysis. It turns out that the velocity of the CSL becomes slower as the period becomes longer. We also mention a relation between the velocity and the magnetic resistance.
