Abstract: We show that simultaneous log resolutions of simply elliptic singularities can be constructed inside suitable stacks of principal bundles over elliptic curves. In particular, we give a direct geometrical construction of del Pezzo surfaces from the corresponding exceptional simple algebraic groups.
