Numerical Investigations on Quasi Steady-State Model for Voltage Stability: Limitations and Nonlinear Analysis

Abstract: In this paper, several numerical examples to illustrate limitations of Quasi Steady-State (QSS) model in long-term voltage stability analysis are presented. In those cases, the QSS model provided incorrect stability assessment. Causes of failure of the QSS model are explained and analyzed in nonlinear system framework. Sufficient conditions of the QSS model for correct approximation are suggested.
