The MOLLER Experiment

Published 6 Aug 2012 in hep-ex and hep-ph | (1208.1260v1)

Abstract: The MOLLER experiment will measure the weak charge of the electron, $Qe_W = 1 - 4\sin2\theta_W$, with a precision of 2.3% by measuring the parity-violating asymmetry in electron-electron (M\oller) scattering. This measurement will provide an ultra-precise measurement of the weak mixing angle, $\sin2\theta_W$, which is on par with the two most precise collider measurements at the Z$0$-pole. The precision of the experiment, with a fractional accuracy in the determination of $\sin2\theta_W$ $\approx 0.1$%, makes it a probe of physics beyond the Standard Model with sensitivities to mass scales of new physics up to 7.5 TeV.
