Chiral topological superconductivity in Josephson junction

Published 5 Sep 2020 in cond-mat.mes-hall and cond-mat.mtrl-sci | (2009.02425v2)

Abstract: We consider a heterostructure of semiconductor layers sandwiched between two superconductors, forming a two-dimensional Josephson junction. Applying a Zeeman field perpendicular to the junction can render a topological superconducting phase with chiral Majorana edge mode. We show that the phase difference between two superconductors can efficiently reduce the magnetic field required to achieve the chiral topological superconductivity, providing an experimentally feasible setup to realize chiral Majorana edge modes. We also construct a lattice Hamiltonian of the setup to demonstrate the chiral Majorana edge mode and the Majorana bound state localized in vortices.
