Transferability of the residual-tail accuracy estimator to other mass numbers

Establish whether the three-component residual-tail estimator and its calibration, fixed using the $^3$H calculation with the AV18 interaction, remain reliable when transferred to nuclei with other mass numbers.

Background

The adaptive procedure estimates the unresolved contribution of the excluded hyperspherical-harmonics space using a Gaussian-process extrapolation, fitted decay laws, and a nonparametric gain-ratio envelope. These estimates are combined and calibrated during the run to produce an accuracy certificate.

The calibration settings and estimator choices were fixed on 3^3H with AV18 and successfully applied to the other trinucleon cases studied. The paper explicitly states that whether this transfer remains valid for different mass numbers has not yet been tested.

The settings of the estimate---$\gamma$, the three estimators and the rule combining them, with the values of Sec.~\ref{sec:setup-protocol}---were fixed on $3$H with AV18 and used unchanged in the other three cases: they carry over to the mirror nucleus and to the Hamiltonian with the three-nucleon force, and their transfer to other mass numbers remains to be tested.
