Separating Driver and Input Causes of Residual Under-Exploration

Determine whether persistent residual regions in multi-driver fuzzing arise primarily from driver selection, input quality, or the interaction between driver configurations and inputs.

Background

The empirical analysis identifies structural regions that remain under-explored after combining multiple drivers, but it does not establish why those regions remain difficult to reach. The authors specifically identify an unresolved attribution problem: residual gaps may result from inadequate driver choices, insufficient or poorly targeted inputs, or an interaction between the two. Resolving this question would guide the design of more effective driver organization, invocation strategies, seed support, and targeted exploration mechanisms.
