Scalability of AppView’s all‑labeler subscription model

Determine whether the Bluesky architecture in which the centralized AppView component subscribes to all known Labelers and stores all emitted labels remains scalable in the long term as the number and output rate of community‑run Labelers increase.

Background

The labeler ecosystem was opened in March 2024, leading to rapid growth in the number of community labelers and in the number of labels they produce. Running a labeler is lightweight, but AppView must ingest and store all labels from all labelers.

The authors highlight that this design may impose increasing resource demands on AppView and explicitly state uncertainty about the long‑term scalability of this approach.
