Coupling Projective Dynamics with Deformable Materials

Develop a Projective Dynamics framework that robustly couples fluids, granular materials, and plastic media with deformable materials, including frictional contact, within a unified multiphysics simulation.

Background

Projective Dynamics has been extended to simulate several individual phenomena, including fluids, granular media, and plasticity, while also supporting deformable materials and frictional contact. However, the tutorial identifies the integration of these capabilities into a coupled multiphysics framework as unresolved. Such a framework would enable deformables to interact with fluid, granular, and plastic materials within the same Projective Dynamics formulation rather than treating these phenomena independently or relying on separate coupling mechanisms.

There are also a few works on multiphysics effects such as plasticity, granular media and fluids. However, their coupling to deformables within PD remains an open problem.
