Long-range magnetic order in compressed Cs8LiNa3Ti12F48

Determine whether the low-temperature state of compressed Cs8LiNa3Ti12F48 (LiNa), whose quasi-one-dimensional magnetic correlations become more two-dimensional below approximately 0.4 K, develops long-range magnetic order.

Background

The LiNa compound exhibits two low-temperature specific-heat anomalies near 0.26 and 0.40 K, consistent with successive magnetic transitions. Its specific heat changes from nearly linear temperature dependence at higher temperatures to approximately quadratic dependence below 0.4 K, suggesting a crossover from quasi-one-dimensional correlations to more two-dimensional magnetic correlations. The measurements therefore identify low-temperature magnetic behavior but do not establish whether the resulting state has true long-range magnetic order.

Whether this low-temperature state develops long-range magnetic order remains an open question requiring further investigation.
