Holographic dual and spectral gap for weak G2 Freund–Rubin vacua

Investigate the AdS4/CFT3 holographic dual of the M-theory Freund–Rubin vacua on weak G2-holonomy manifolds obtained from lifting massless type IIA on the Iwasawa manifold, and determine whether the dual three-dimensional conformal field theory exhibits a parametrically large gap in its operator spectrum.

Background

The authors argue that their M-theory compactification on a weak G2-holonomy manifold should admit a holographic dual, plausibly related to M2-branes probing a Spin(7)-holonomy cone. Establishing the dual and its spectral properties is crucial for testing scale separation from a holographic perspective.

Determining whether the dual CFT displays a parametrically large gap in the operator spectrum would provide a nontrivial check of the proposed scale-separated Freund–Rubin vacua and could challenge conjectures about curvature scales and KK spectra.

The investigation of the holographic setup along the lines of refs. and whether it exhibits a parametrically large gap in the operator spectrum, is left for future research.
