Head-on interaction between lump and single electron-acoustic solitons

Investigate the head-on collision between two-dimensional lump solitons and single electron-acoustic solitons in superthermal plasmas, including the resulting multidimensional energy localization, transverse coupling, and nonlinear energy redistribution.

Background

The paper develops a two-dimensional superthermal plasma model containing inertial cold electrons, kappa-distributed hot electrons, and stationary ions. Using an extended Poincaré–Lighthill–Kuo perturbation method, it derives two-sided Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equations for counter-propagating electron-acoustic waves and obtains analytical soliton, breather, and lump solutions.

The authors emphasize that lump solitons are intrinsically two-dimensional and algebraically localized in all spatial directions, unlike one-dimensional solitary waves. Their interaction with conventional electron-acoustic solitons is therefore relevant to understanding transverse coupling, multidimensional energy localization, and nonlinear energy redistribution in realistic space-plasma environments. The paper explicitly identifies this particular interaction as not having been explored previously, thereby leaving it as an unresolved research problem.
