Extend the support-and-length method to polygons with more sides

Establish whether the support-and-length method used to certify universal coverage by the constructed quadrilateral extends to polygons with more sides and yields universal covers of smaller area.

Background

The paper constructs a quadrilateral of area approximately 0.24633 and proves that it contains a congruent copy of every unit arc. The proof combines support inequalities with estimates relating the resulting inequalities to the length of a visiting path.

The conclusion explicitly raises the unresolved question of whether this method can be generalized to polygons with more sides. Such a generalization could potentially produce smaller convex universal covers and improve the current upper bound.
