Evaluate F-DLA under degraded channel conditions

Investigate the performance of the Fast DLA (F-DLA) and conventional discrete linear autocorrelation (DLA) methods for frame refresh rate estimation under severe channel degradation, where the bounded peak-shift assumption may no longer hold.

Background

The Fast DLA method achieves linear-time frame refresh rate estimation by evaluating autocorrelation only near a constant number of candidate lags derived from prior knowledge of the display parameters. This analysis assumes that channel-induced distortions shift the dominant autocorrelation peak by a bounded number of samples, expressed as δ = O(1).

The paper notes that severe channel degradation may invalidate this assumption and compromise frame refresh rate estimation by both F-DLA and conventional DLA. The authors therefore leave evaluation under degraded channel conditions unresolved.

References

Under severe channel degradation, the assumption $\delta=O(1)$ may no longer hold, compromising FRR estimation by both DLA and F-DLA. Since this work aims to validate F-DLA as an alternative to DLA in at least one real-world scenario, evaluation under degraded channel conditions is left for future work.
