Relationship between eutectic oscillations and buoyancy coefficients

Determine the direct relationship between the oscillation modes observed during convection-influenced eutectic solidification and the elemental buoyancy coefficients.

Background

The paper develops a Grand-Potential Phase-Field Lattice-Boltzmann framework and applies it to dendritic and eutectic solidification under natural convection. For three eutectic patterns—, , and —the authors identify multiple oscillation modes and analyze their morphology and associated flow fields qualitatively.

Although the simulations reveal that natural convection produces new eutectic oscillation modes and modifies the symmetry of known modes, the paper does not establish a direct, quantitative correspondence between these oscillation modes and the elemental buoyancy coefficients. The authors explicitly leave this relationship for future work.

We have qualitatively analyzed the oscillation modes, but investigating their direct relationship to the buoyancy coefficients remains as a future work.
