Establish whether an enlarged exceptional field theory realizes the omega-deformed supergravity

Determine whether an enlarged exceptional field theory, potentially of the form U(1)_omegatimes E7(7) exceptional field theory or a related generalized geometry, can contain the omega-deformed maximal supergravity as a consistent truncation and whether such a construction has relevance to string theory.

Background

The paper discusses the relation between the de RooWagemans angle in N=4 supergravity and the omega-deformation of N=8 gauged supergravity. In the N=4 case, different symplectic frames can be related by transformations in the enlarged exceptional-field-theory duality group, whereas the analogous transformation is unavailable in the maximal theory.

This motivates asking whether the duality group could be enlarged beyond the standard exceptional-field-theory framework so that the omega-deformed theory admits a consistent-truncation or higher-dimensional realization. The paper leaves both the existence of such a theory and its possible string-theoretic significance unresolved.
