Existence of a genuinely non-repeating FRB population

Determine whether all fast radio burst sources eventually repeat at sufficiently low rates or whether a genuinely non-repeating population exists.

Background

Apparently non-repeating FRBs may simply be repeaters whose subsequent bursts have not been detected because of low activity, limited monitoring, or selection effects. Population models allow the intrinsic repeater fraction to exceed 50 percent or approach unity, whereas temporal evolution analyses also permit a genuinely one-off population. Longer and more sensitive monitoring is required to resolve this dichotomy.

Whether all FRBs ultimately repeat at extremely low rates or whether a genuinely non-repeating population exists remains unresolved.
