Background

The review explains that the initial metallicity of a Type Ia supernova progenitor changes its neutron excess through the production of 22^{22}Ne, thereby modifying isotopic and elemental yields. Although systematic calculations have quantified these trends, the observational signatures of the metallicity dependence and its consequences for galactic chemical evolution remain unresolved.
