Budget-aware adaptation of CSB-X for two-stage response-surface modeling

Develop and evaluate a budget-aware adaptation of Controlled Sequential Bifurcation-X for comparison with a two-stage response-surface modeling protocol.

Background

Controlled Sequential Bifurcation and CSB-X are identified as related sequential screening methods, but they use a different experimental protocol from Sequential Supersaturated Screening. The paper does not provide a direct comparison between CSB-X and its adaptive two-stage screening and optimization framework.

A fair comparison would require adapting CSB-X to account for the run budget and the subsequent second-order response-surface modeling stage. This adaptation and comparison are left unresolved.

References

A fair comparison between CSB-X and a two-stage response surface modeling protocol would require its own budget-aware adaptation, which we leave to future work.
