Defect Detection Efficiency A Combined Approach

Published 31 Jan 2014 in cs.SE | (1401.8069v1)

Abstract: Survival of IT industries depends much upon the development of high quality and customer satisfied software products. Quality however can be viewed from various perspectives such as deployment of the products within estimated resources, constrains and also being defect free. Testing is one of the promising techniques ever since the inception of software in the global market. Though there are several testing techniques existing, the most widely accepted is the conventional scripted testing. Despite of advancement in the technology, achieving defect free deliverables is yet a challenge. This paper therefore aims to enhance the existing testing techniques in order to achieve nearly zero defect products through the combined approach of scripted and exploratory testing. This approach thus enables the testing team to capture maximum defects and thereby reduce the expensive nature of overheads. Further, it leads towards generation of high quality products and assures the continued customer satisfaction.
