I signed up and tried generating an essay for "emergent mind" to see what it could come up with and it says "Failed" with no further explanation. Love the concept of making essay writing/brainstorming easier, but might be a tad buggy.

I recently built a little Ruby script to run variations for some prompt work I was doing. Seems like it's a common problem... hyperparameter tuning for prompt engineering. The challenge I ran into was that I haven't found a good way to quantify the quality of the generated prompt, so I couldn't just have it test a bunch of combinations and automatically tell me which generated the "best" prompt; it required me looking through it and trying to get a feel for which parameter combinations worked best. Would love to hear if you have any thoughts on that, and also any insights you gleaned from your experimentation.

I think the author is using the term very loosely to try to convey that LLMs convert English to high level code just like compilers convert high level code code to machine code. Like you said though, the process is very different and the comparison breaks down when you get into the weeds of what a traditional compiler actually does.

I could be wrong, but isn't this very close or the same as the real story of Narcissus? I guess you did ask for it to be close, but this seems closer than I'd expect for "loosely related".

Joking aside though, I've had a lot of success giving ChatGPT random topics and having it generate plausible children's stories from them. "Write a children's story about..." works really well.
