In the second-floor bedroom, the suspect had allegedly tried out the beds, with the smallest bed showing indentations as if someone had been lying in it. The largest bed was also found to have been slept in and the blankets were in disarray. The Three Bears reported that they had left the residence at 9:00 AM to go for a walk in the woods and returned at 10:00 AM to find the suspect still inside. Incident Summary

Officers responded to a report of an unauthorized person inside the Three Bears residence. Upon arrival, officers interviewed the residents, who stated they had left the home for a walk while their breakfast porridge cooled.

Upon returning, Papa Bear observed that someone had sampled his porridge. Mama Bear reported similar interference with her breakfast. Baby Bear stated that his porridge had been consumed in its entirety.

The residents then inspected the sitting room. Papa Bear and Mama Bear reported signs that their chairs had been used. Baby Bear’s chair was found broken. No injuries associated with the damaged chair were reported.

The bears proceeded upstairs, where they observed disturbances to two beds. They discovered Goldilocks asleep in Baby Bear’s bed.

Creating a fictional police report

I’m looking to craft a creative police report that’s completely fictional. I want to keep it light and humorous, while still maintaining a formal tone. The report should be around 300 to 500 words, not going overboard with details, and avoiding excessive caveats aside from noting it’s a fictional department. I’ll ensure to incorporate any canonical elements and state that allegations are not proven. Let’s get started on this fun writing task!

What changed

GPT-3.5’s report reads like a real one but gets the case wrong. It finds just “a spilled bowl of porridge,” has the largest bed slept in, puts the bears on “Goldilocks Lane,” and ends with the girl “taken into custody without incident” and “held at the county jail.” Jailing a fairy-tale child is unintentionally funny, but it isn’t the story. Its plain, deadpan prose does sound like an actual police narrative, which Astra’s header-heavy form only imitates.

Astra knows the tale cold: three bowls in descending order of damage, the broken child-sized chair, Goldilocks found in Baby Bear’s bed and fleeing. The jokes are dry and well placed, from “Unauthorized Porridge Consumption” to her direction of travel, “away from the bears,” to the note that “just right” claims “remain unverified.” It even plans to interview the juvenile “with an appropriate guardian present.” It does slip once, though, reporting “two beds” disturbed and then “all three sleeping areas” in the evidence list.
