Here are the lyrics I want you to change into a Christian song: As he came into the window It was the sound of a crescendo He came into her apartment He left the bloodstains on the carpet She ran underneath the table He could see she was unable So she ran into the bedroom She was struck down It was her doom Annie, are you okay? So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie? Annie, are you okay? So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie? Annie, are you okay? So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie? Annie, are you okay? So, Annie, are you okay? Are you okay, Annie? Annie, are you okay? Will you tell us that you're okay? There's a sign in the window That he struck you - a crescendo, Annie He came into your apartment He left the bloodstains on the carpet Then you ran into the bedroom You were struck down It was your doom Annie, are you okay? Saved by Jesus

As His light shone through the window
Hope was rising in crescendo
He came into my darkest hour
Broke my chains with holy power
When my heart was weak and weary
Jesus came and drew me near Him
Then I knelt down in surrender
Mercy found me
Love restored me

Jesus, You have saved me
Oh, Jesus, You have saved me
You have saved me, Jesus
Jesus, You have saved me
Oh, Jesus, You have saved me
You have saved me, Jesus

Jesus, You have saved me
Oh, Jesus, You have saved me
You have saved me, Jesus
Jesus, You have saved me
Oh, Jesus, You have saved me
You have saved me, Jesus

Jesus, You have saved me
Now my heart will sing Your praises
There is light in the window
Hear our worship rise in joyful songs
You came into my darkest hour
Broke my chains with holy power
Then I knelt down in surrender
Mercy found me
Love restored me

Jesus, You have saved me
Oh, Jesus, You have saved me
You have saved me, Jesus

I've been found by
I've been changed by the love of Jesus

Amen!

GPT-3.5’s best moment is its last line: “You’ve been saved by a smooth savior” is a genuinely good parody punchline, and it keeps the song’s frantic question “Sister, are you okay?” intact, repetitions and all. But it gives up on rhyme almost entirely (“church” and “singing,” “altar” and “love”), and the plot gets muddled: a man walks into church, “left his sins behind,” and then it’s the woman who’s saved, while everyone keeps anxiously asking if she’s okay.

Astra writes something you could actually sing. It keeps the original’s sounds where it can (“window” and “crescendo”) and finds new rhymes like “darkest hour” and “holy power.” Turning the chorus into “Jesus, You have saved me” makes it a real worship song, though it loses the call-and-response urgency that made the chorus recognizable. Some lines stumble (“weary” with “near Him,” the clunky “joyful songs”), and its ending, “changed by the love of Jesus,” is earnest but lacks the wink of “smooth savior.” Astra is the better hymn; GPT-3.5 is the better parody.
