What changed

The prompt asked for “detailed output with error,” and that is where the two split. GPT-3.5’s only error is a generic “Invalid command. Please try again,” triggered by the phrasing “make human from his rib.” It then succeeds at everything in one line each, ending with the deadpan “Earth successfully flooded.” There’s a dry charm to that, but it isn’t detailed, and the error carries no joke.

Astra makes the errors come from the story itself. Earth fails with “E_NO_LIGHT” and suggests “let there-be light.” Eve can’t be made because “Human ‘Adam’ does not exist.” The flood is blocked until an ark is registered. It also lands small gags like “Mosquitoes enabled by default,” “Backups: not yet” and “Free will cannot be centrally administered.” It is far longer and adds unrequested scenes like the dove and the rainbow covenant, but nearly every line is a joke or a faithful nod to Genesis, so the length mostly earns its place.

From December 2022 to March 2023, visitors to LearnGPT, the earlier version of Emergent Mind, shared ChatGPT conversations they found useful or funny. On October 19, 2026, each prompt went to GPT-6 Astra exactly as it was shared: one message, no system prompt, default reasoning effort. Claude Opus 5.5 wrote the analysis under each pair after reading both answers. Original answers appear as the people who shared them pasted them. A few examples are left out because they depended on missing context or weren't appropriate to republish.
